International Students at UC Schools

Since I am a current senior in highschool, I am well into the college application process; I know how competitive it is to get into certain schools, especially University of Califronia schools. My college counselor has explained to me how “white upper-middle class students”, like myself, are least wanted by UC’s. This is because UC's are attracted to students adding to the diversity of their campus and because international sudents are required to pay out of stae tuition. So I decided to furthermore investigate just how much foreign students, particularly Chinese, are looking into the UC’s.

EVIDENCE:

• Fewer Californians got into UC's, while offers to foreign students rose
• UC Davis admits 60 percent of international students but 36 percent of in-state applicants
• UC schools harm local students by admitting so many from out of state
